Itinerary

DAY 1. Arrival and Kilimanjaro Airport
pick up from Kilimanjaro airport, you will be meet by friendly staff of Haika expedition and transfer direct to Babylon lodge at marangu.

DAY 2.MARANGU TO RONGAI 60 KM.
Our cycle challenge start in all earnest. Although the distance is not that far, it is very hilly on this side of the mountain. Lots of up down cycling on good  raising up to  an altitude of just over 2000m.we cycle through beautiful lush green areas where small farmer grow banana, avocado and vegetables.we will see also stunning views of mountain Kilimanjaro.highest mountain in Africa. Overnight at snow cap hotel.

DAY 3. RONGAI TO SIMBA FARM CAMP – 75 KM.
Today we cycle around mountain Kilimanjaro with great views of the mountain. and over the plains of Kenya towards amboseli national park. only the first part is on tar. the rest is on dirt roads. Although we steadily loose altitude. We still challenging as the road is tricky in parts. There is also a section which is real African bush and it is not unusual to see wild animals. Overnight at samba farm.

DAY 4. SIMBA FARM TO ARUSHA TOWN 95 KM.
Today we cycling long distance between the two mountains of the area. Mountain Kilimanjaro{5895m} and mountain meru {4561}. We cross the very dry plain between them where masai have  herded  their cattle and goats for generations. we  pass them along the way as we approach mountain meru , the ecology starts changing again and we start climbing again steadily. we skirt arusha national park, before joining to the tar road toward the town of arusha. this city become the bustling centre for people that want to visit the Serengeti and ngorongoro. the last 40 km is an very good tar road but still quit hills places. overnight at city link hotel or similar.

DAY 5. ARUSHA TO SNAKE PARK 50 KM.
Start cycling from our lodge. we cycling through banana and coffee plantations, before heading west toward the monduli mountain range. open farmland leads us past the foothills of the mountain. earth here is known as black cotton and his very prone to erosion.weave through various small valley and maasai homesteads as we cycle the foothills. We will be carrying a lunch box.we overnight at snake park.

DAY 6. CYCLING TOWARDS THE RIFT VALLEY AND SELELAI  38 KM
We use tarmac road which weaves back and forth over, we cycling straight towards the rift valleys wall .which is seen in the distance with lake manyara glistening at its foot.we follow the main road to the village of selelai. After lunch we cycling on open country, you might seen giraffe, ostrich, gazelles and occasionally elephant and buffalo are seen.we camp tonight at an attractive campsite on the edge of a rift valley mountain.

DAY 7. LEAN  MASAI CULTURE  AND CYCLING 25 KM.
A morning hike up the mountain behind the campsite offer some spectacular views over the rift valley and a cross to manyara national park. our masai guide takes the opportunity to introducing us to local medicine plant that his trable uses. we had back to camp for lunch.in the afternoon we cycle to a local maasai friend and gain some insight into their lives in the rift valley.we return to the camp for overnight.

DAY 8. CYCLING TO MTO WA MBU.50KM
Departing from the campsite, we cycle across the villages to mto wa mbu. The rift valley wall is in sight all day as we cycling,through the number of maasai homesteads. Possible sightings of wildlife as we cross over the open plains. We have our lunch under acacia tree during the heat of the day.the  distance to day is greater but the terrain is much easier.we end our cycle in the town of mto wa mbu, adjacent to the lake manyara national park.this park is well known for its tree climbing lion. We overnight at fanaka.

DAY 9. MTO WA MBU TO NGORONGORO NATIONAL PARK GATE.50KM
Our last day of cycling is real challenge,we start climbing almost immediately with stunning views of lake manyara the tar road is very good but very steep in places.we pass a numbers of villages and beautiful countryside as we steadily climb toward the gate of the ngorongoro national park.we approach the gate the ecology turn greener and the tree increase in size.looking for monkeys and baboons a long the way up the gate of ngorongoro national park.we overnight at panorama lodge at karatu.

DAY 10. NGORONGORO CRATER GAME DRIVE.
We  drive to ngorongoro conservation area.it is a special place in a conservation area.it means that the whole area is managed for the animals and local masai people who graze their cattle alongside the indigenous wildlife. We learn about fascinating volcanic landscape.we drive around the rim of crater.  can look down and see herds of wildebeest and elephant.then we descend into the crater. the crater wall provide a natural sanctuary for the animals which means there is plenty to see. elephants, buffalo, rhino and lions. If we are lucky we can see leopard.the only animals we wont see here is a giraffe. In the evening we drive back to the hotel.
